back from music camp! (: -this explains why i didn not blog for the past few days lol

This camp was held in pasir ris crest secondary school, east zone excellence for music and it lasted for only 2 days. 30th & 31th may. Although its not a overnight camp, i did camp at someone house for a night! its none other than jollyn bestie =) she's going for the camp too. yay
This camp was opened for all the east zone schools and many other schools participated in this camp. It was enjoyable and educational(:
This camp only focused on indonesian music, which was one of the topics for the o level syllabus.

On the first day, 2 kompang experts came to impart their kompang knowledge to us. It was rather interesting and there was even hands-on. Everyone was definately having fun handling the kompang. One of the things learnt was about the four rhythms of the Kompang. Each has its own uniqueness. At the end of the lesson, there was this students performance where we perform as a group. By the time the lesson ended, our hands were sore from hitting the skin. haha It was a whole lot of fun.
Later in the night, jollyn friend came over and taught her the NDP choir dance. It was hilarious watching them dance..lol x) one being the mirror of the other. The new theme song for NDP was nice too..
Second day: Reported to school at 8.15. We had this programme of learning malay dance. This has nothing to do with the syllabus, its just to perk us up for the day. lol. It lasted till lunch, so you can imagine how long we danced. haha.
During the lunch break, there was a mini performance by some students who have finished their lunch. There was this guy who scored 50/50 for his mid year practical and his finger technique skills were ' W.O.W!' its very impressive! He's good!

After lunch break, we headed to the hall just to see the gamelan instruments nicely displayed on the floor. It looked ancient. Someone from Lasalle gave us a gamelan lecture for a whole two hours, and this nearly put everyone to sleep. She did tried to liven the atmosphere by telling a few jokes, but it didn't really helped much. Its not exactly boring, but the time was simply too long. The weather was also just nice for putting one to sleep. The teacher in charge even fell asleep on his chair. lol.
Later on, we had hands on. It was fun and it requires the coordination of all the players.
It was a nice experience with the Gamelan instruments. haha

After the whole thing, Jollyn and I went to Tm for a short walk and then we headed back to her hse.
It was a fruitful day! haha..
okay.. nights all! lol
